  1. What's wrong with a woman being at the counter? OK let me rephrase, what's MORE wrong with a woman being in the counter than a man doing it?

It's a different question whether it's OK or not to sell liquor, but I don't see how it's bad for a woman to do so and OK for a man. You are discriminating.

  2. @Sach,

I'm totally agree with your idea, I didn't say there's a difference between man selling liquor or women selling it. I even agree for selling liquor to women and drinking, cuz they have equal rights as men.

But in these days any women cannot go to a liquor shop any buy things, because they said it violates ethics and stuff.

If that so why they let Cargills to let a women sell liquor. Women Buying liquor is wrong, but selling is ok.

  4. I don't seem anything wrong when a woman being at liquor counter. she only takes money from the customer and issues the bill. She does not suggest or promote anything to customer. customer knows what they want in liquor counter and they get the thing and pay money to anyone who handles the liquor counter. We cannot say she is selling liquor because if she sells liquor she must promote liquor to the customer. thus not merely being in the counter, therefore most people like to talk about ethics even they don't know which extent they practice it in other areas too. person who is selling liquor is not the problem, better thing is you should refrain from using liquor. but i can't say anyone to stop using coz it's people's wish whether they use it or not. Letting woman to sell liquor would not make any attraction to the customer. If a woman dressed in unacceptable manner and behave accordingly then there's a matter we can assume that she is used to promote it, but I don't see such situation at cargills food city. It's not a place or bar who can drink the liquor. We don't know exactly how many women involved in producing liquor. Then we should stop any woman to involve with any process from liquor producing to sell If a woman need to buy liquor she also can buy liquor at cargills liquor counter. We don't see it is wrong. Today we like so far talk about ethics. How far it decided violating ethics is based on people's attitudes.

  5. Even though you write web logs in the 21st century you still seem to be having 19th centure Victorian (also called 'ape sanskruthiya') morals.

As the "Sachi" said what is more wrong with women selling liquor and why do you say its good that women can't buy anything at a bar?

If a man is allowed to buy liquor at a bar and sell it (at a bar or at Cargills), the women should be allowed to do that too. Why discriminate? Is liquor harmful only to women?

Ban the sale or liquor, I am all for it. But don't try to take us back in time.

  7. I dont get it..If a man can sell liquor, why not a woman? no one is forcing her to sell it. shes selling it on her own volition.
I find it interesting that even though this post is specifically about women, I seem to be the only woman who is commenting. Another example of guys thinking they know what is best for women. sheesh. If a woman doesnt have a problem with it, why would guys have a problem with it??
And who are you to decide whether something is demeaning for our culture? IMHO, guys buying/selling/consuming alcohol is just as much as destructive to our culture.

  11. @niroshinie

i'm not trying to decide or say this is not good for women or something like this, but there is a rule or a common behavior in most of the liquor shops that women cannot go there and buy them. i know this because on of my friend (a girl) went to a bar recently and ask for a half a bottle of BRANDY, not even for drinking but for making a cake. but barman said he can't sell it to a women. If that so, how can someone allow this to happen.

I totally agree with you, no one can restrict women's rights but one rule for one place and one for another, how can tha happen in a one country.

and also you cant say no one is frocing her to do that, even if she doesn't like it, it's a management decision. If the manager said go to to the liquor counter, end of the case, no options she has to go there.
